About time for another update!

Poor neglected sketch blog! It's been a month since my last update? Really? Well here's one, even if it's small!

Drawings are from older to newer.

Just some Sir Pinkstruttle expressions.

aaand jacomo, who I never seem to draw the same way (this is his beast form and he's also got his beast-kid form. Ahhh complicated)

Also some nerdy Apollo Justice fanart, because I cannot get enough of this game and I love these two characters. Poor Klavier (on the right) is a total rock star and would never dress preppy. This is why he is mad at Apollo for forcing him

I certainly hope that it won't be a month until my next update, but you never know!

New layout and a few colored doodles

So first off, new layout and some new finished art over at my domain: http://lauren-blakely.com

And a few doodles (they're colored, but they're not going on my main site):

More Sir Pinkstruttle. I need to keep doing more of these marker drawings on that paper, they are fun!

Another self portrait. With new sparkly Photoshop brushes!

I make fun of Zac Efron because I'm mean.

Aaand that's all for now.

So news! I've got an internship at Beau Studio. It's been really cool so far! I've gotten to do some storyboarding and will soon be doing a bit of character design work.

I've decided it's time to REALLY get my portfolio filled with more and better things. I just had a portfolio review today at an ASIFA event, and I got some great feedback!

As for drawings, I discovered some awesome brown fashion design paper that looks pretty neat with markers. This is...Phoenix wright fanart, but it was a fun experiment:

Definitely want to do more stuff with this paper.

And here's a character I decided to work on (I drew him over the sumer, but decided to finally color him in):

His name is Sir Pinkstruttle. He enjoys tea :). Plus, I will use him for my website's new layout!

Well, hopefully if my inspiration keeps up, I will have more to show again soon!

Unfinished Business

I decided to share some unfinished stuff. Drawings that are either probably not going to be finished, or will be finished at a later time. Also, some stuff I've been planning for my comic!

Here is Tommy, and Scoutmaster Mitchell, for the comic I'm working on that is currently named "Tommy, Boyscout Zombie". These designs may change but that's what they are for now.

Other random scouts and a strange doodle of Tommy's potential parents

Peeing in the woods sure ain't the most classy place to have a zombie attack you. I was just planning for this scene, and I need to get it down in writing soon.

Some girls I drew in Japan but don't feel like finishing. What can I say, I was inspired by Japanese art and cuisine.
Except, the one with the fish, I eventually want to re-draw that in another style and do it in color.

That's all for now. I know I haven't drawn a whole lot of new drawings but check the Animajors Blog for some other drawings I've posted recently.

Fanart and Friends

I haven't drawn much lately but I thought this would be a fun post: a couple fanart drawings, and drawings of/for friends I've done lately (or not-so-lately, with the first). Plus, all are in COLOR, something I really need to do more often!

So first, Carder. This was from a topic a while ago at the Animajors Blog.

These two are also from the Animajors Blog, where the topics were Alien (like the movie) and Batman. I'm sure you can tell which is which.

Aaaand finally, a drawing for a trade with my online buddy, Felix. He's got these amazing creatures that appear in his drawings, and it was really cool to get a chance to draw one :).

I'm in a bit of a slump now (well, as in, being too busy to draw over the last few days), but hopefully things will get better soon! Also, I really want to re-vamp this blog's layout. That is another thing to put on my ever-growing list of random internet things I need to do.

Small Drawing Post

Well, I thought I would have a lot more drawing done while I was in Japan, but our tour really kept us busy.

But, here are some drawings that have been done over the past few days, as well as one drawing from Japan that I thought was worth showing.

Random drawings. Lots of people with goggles, for some reason. Note: the girl on the right was from Japan. Everything else is from either yesterday or today.

And a sort of redesign/reinterpretation of a beast character of mine. His name is Jacomo. I enjoy drawing expressions :)

Guess what, everyone? My new website is on the horizon! Check it out!

http://lauren-blakely.com

For now there's nothing but a coming soon image. But I'm working hard, and I'll try to get it up by the end of the week! I will be sure to say when it is finally finished.

To tide you over, here's a few sketches from the past week.

A character I made up sometime during my internship at Nickelodeon last fall. His name is Vladamir (or is it Vladimir? I have no idea how you even spell that name). Vlad for short, because that's easier to spell and remember.

Just some random people and animals. Please note the cats playing poker and the charismatic buffalo, which were both requests from people. And the dude in the right corner is actually the drawing I'm using in my website layout, ohoho.

Also, new profile pic, if you'll notice! I actually rather like lineless art. Can't say I'm the best at it, but it's fun.

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. But the good news is that I've done with school! The bad news is that I don't have a job yet! Lately, I've been taking a storyboarding class and a figure drawing class, both taught by Karl Gnass, as I bide my time before any sort of employment. And these are a few doodles I've come up with in between all that.

My next step is to try and get my website up and running again, and just to draw more in general. Woo!

FINALLY PHOTOSHOP!

FINALLY got Photoshop working on my iMac. Yesss!! Now it's time for a sketch dump! This is far from all the drawings I've done since I last shared anything from my sketchbook. There's just too many, and too much of it isn't good. So here are my picks.

Minimal commentary, because they're all pretty much just random doodles. And also somewhat categorized them, just to make things easier to split up.

Girls

Guys (mostly scuzzy or bored-looking guys). It's hilarious to me how similar most of them look, especially with the boring standing poses.

Even MORE guys. At least they are all fairly different from one another in this one.

kids. Namely, skinny boys, haha.

And that is all. Now back to busting my butt with animation cleanup. Oyyy.

Affirmative. I poked one, it was dead.

I know I haven't posted in a long time. This is due to the fact that I haven't scanned my drawings because I lack photoshop on my new computer. I don't know when I'll get it but when I do, there is going to be a humongous sketch dump.

For now, I've just drawn something on a neat little thing called Tegaki E. It's kind of like a blog, but all the entries and comments are ONLY in drawings. Not a very great painting program, but oh well. It does what it needs to. HEY YOU ANIMAJORS, YOU SHOULD MAKE ACCOUNTS TOO! Here's mine: http://www.unowen.net/tegaki/uentries.php?u=11532

And here is the drawing:
(I realized I switched the names around by accident. Oops)
Those who spend time with me know my thing now is Flight of the Conchords. Wonderful stuff. Too bad I have to wait until next year for the new episodes! :(

Well, I'm going to be very busy with animation for the next couple months. Who knows if I will have time to scan drawings in that time, but eventually, I will make a real post.

Wow, a post!

I wonder if anyone actually checks this anymore...
Personally, I just started using RSS feeds to monitor people's blogs with Apple Mail. What a wonderful thing it is!

I haven't been drawing all that much outside of class since my last post, but here is the stuff I've done.

A self-portrait I did on a windy day.

Some zombies, inspired by the book World War Z.

A self-portrait

Aaand some heads of random people.
